About Me
I’m Cynthia Macklin, PA-C, and I created Active Women Everywhere from a simple belief: growing older should not mean growing less adventurous.
I believe maintaining strength, curiosity, independence, and a willingness to try new things can profoundly influence how we experience the years ahead. Adventure doesn’t have to mean climbing the highest mountain or cycling across a continent. It can mean hiking a new trail, getting back on a bicycle, learning to paddleboard, traveling somewhere unfamiliar, or simply deciding that age will not determine what comes next.
I try to live that philosophy myself. Cycling, hiking, skiing, paddling, traveling, and exploring the outdoors continue to be an important part of my life. In 2027, I will take on one of my largest adventures yet—a long-distance cycling expedition along the historic Silk Route from Beijing to Istanbul.
Active Women Everywhere grew from my desire to share those experiences and encourage other women to continue discovering what is possible as they age.
There is another important part of this story. I have spent more than 30 years working as a Physician Assistant in family medicine. Throughout my career, I have cared for women as they navigated the physical changes associated with aging and menopause. That experience has made me particularly passionate about an often-overlooked area of women’s health: genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM).
Too many women live with vulvovaginal dryness and irritation, urinary symptoms, recurrent urinary tract infections, or discomfort with sexual activity without realizing that these symptoms may be related to declining estrogen and that effective treatments are available. One of my goals is to increase awareness of GSM and help women understand treatment options, including low-dose local vaginal estrogen when medically appropriate.
Active Women Everywhere brings these two parts of my life together: a passion for staying active and exploring the world, and decades of experience caring for patients.
My hope is to encourage women to ask questions, understand the changes occurring in their bodies, stay active, protect their independence, and continue imagining what their own next adventure might be.
Adventure has no expiration date.
